What’s the difference between “herniated disc”, “slipped disc”, “slipped disk”, “ruptured disc” and “extruded disc”? These terms are all very similar and explain a condition where the central portion of the spinal disc comes out and puts pressure on the nerves in the area of the spinal cord. This may lead to symptoms of neck pain with arm pain, numbness, tingling and weakness. Typically, the extruded disc is the largest type of disc herniation. A “bulging disc” is the smallest in this category and is felt by many to be a normal condition of the spine.
